Project: Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH)
Block
The Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH), was created to house a broad spectrum of Houston’s arts. The new 46,000 square foot facility consists of multi-tenant exhibition space, rehearsal halls, black box spaces, galleries, office spaces, and a theater that can accommodate audiences of up to 350.
Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd. (CMS) furnished and installed 300 12” burnished masonry units, 2,100 8” K-Dron masonry units, 4,700 8” acoustical masonry units and 27,000 8” standard lightweight masonry units.
The K-Dron units were installed in a running bond pattern which required careful attention to ensure the diamond shapes were properly aligned. Additionally, the units had to be stocked on the scaffold with the diamond face portion facing opposite directions to avoid chipping. The acoustical units were also laid in a running bond pattern and special care was required to make sure all vertical slots of the acoustical units were aligned.
This state-of-the-art facility will accommodate the various needs for a diverse range of performing and visual arts organizations and enhance the experience of the participants and the attendees.
