Project: Navasota Residence
Residential (Single Family)
Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd. completed its most intricate residential project in the spring of 2015. This architectural masterpiece in Navasota mixes modern rustic and European elements, drawing inspiration from the centuries-old stunning masonry of the Italian countryside. A blend of cobblestone, brick, limestone, and tile makes this house a textural work of art.
Over 10,000 sf of Chateau Blue cobblestone was installed on the stoic property wall, massive exterior and interior walls, fireplaces and arched doorways. There are 35 various stone tops throughout the home, a blend of marble, Silestone and Onyx and the floors in certain areas of the home feature 3,100 sf of cross cut honed classic Roman Travertine tiles. The white marble in the kitchen and butler’s pantry was personally selected by the homeowners from a mountainside stone quarry in Italy. The ten bathrooms in the home boast ten different Horizon mosaic, glass, pebble and polished tiles along with eight various sand, glass, penny and onyx tiles.
This custom home was never short on masonry challenges that pushed our team to new heights. Over 3,000 sf of cobblestone was roughed out on every edge to accommodate tighter mortar joints. Three true masonry fireplaces with large cast stone caps set by crane were built in addition to field stone being hung from the metal lintels over all windows and arches to hide the visibility of the steel.
Arguably the most impressive space in the home, the cavernous wine cellar, was constructed of stone boulders quarried from the property which were hand-broken and chiseled to fit. The arched hallway leads to a tasting room showcasing the overhead ceiling with 600 sf of hand-laid thin brick in a herringbone pattern.
This Navasota residence is truly an architectural marvel and will serve its family as a warm and inviting place to come home to. The textures and finishes inside and out will always be a proud feat for Camarata Masonry Systems, Ltd.
